How To Use Mac For Beginners

Mac, a machine designed so simple and convenient to use, becomes a challenge and fear for Windows users generally. The look and the foreign system make people stop trying to apply this machine in everyday life.

Mac is not really as difficult as imagined and illustrated as above. Macs are simple, safe, and beautiful. For those of you who just bought a Mac-welcome to this community-can get some tips, while for you who are curious how to use Mac, keep in mind because you can also understand that the Mac is not much different from Windows. The main difference between the two operating systems lies in its implementation.

Know the Work Environment

The above view is a Mac display in general.

• The Menu Bar is an indicator that indicates what application is active. The picture above shows that a Windows Explorer-like Finder application in Windows-is active. Next to it also displays menu options that are commonly found on Windows. It's just that, Mac, everything is always in Menu Bar. And this is the advantage of Mac, that is consistency.

• The Icons Bar menu is categorized as a class with a Windows tray. Many applications offer application control options through the menu bar. The screenshot above shows that Battery, F.lux, and FuzzyClock are active.

• Dock is the area where active apps take place. A running app is always inserted into the Dock. A glowing indicator under the application icon indicates that the application is active. Dock can be considered as Taskbar on Windows. You can also enter frequently used apps on the Dock without having to run them-like Pin to Taskbar. Read "Everything About the Dock" to find out more.

• Spotlight can help you run applications, find files, access Mac configurations, and perform other activities such as doing calculations. Spotlight is a search feature that becomes a Mac advantage over Windows. You can use Spotlight by pressing cmd + space or click the magnifying lens button in the top right corner-I replace Spotlight with Alfred App so there is no Spotlight icon in the menu bar.

I'm not talking about all the features on the Mac because they can be searched slowly. Know that different styles and ways can be applied in using a Mac, and it's all simple.

How to Use a Mac

Everyone's style is different in using Mac. But in general, every Mac user must use Spotlight. Starting from launching application to searching files.

• Running an Application is simply done with a click on the app you want to run. The application location is always stored in Finder: Application. More simply, you can run the Finder and keep pressing cmd + shift + a. One more way to run an application is to run Spotlight and enter the name of the application you want to run.

• Stopping the Application does not work like in Windows where you only need to select the x button in the titlebar window. On a Mac, you must select the app name in the menu bar and continue quit. Or you simply press cmd + q on the active application.

• Application Installation can be done by drag & drop to the Application folder mentioned above. No setup, and no install. Native applications are generally pretty dragged & dropped. There are exceptions to some applications that have the Installer.

• Uninstallation The actual application can be done by simply deleting the application within the Application folder. But there will be remnants of uninstalled configuration and application support. So, to uninstall, you'd better use a third-party app like AppCleaner.
